In Memoriam: Dr Gabriel Osorno

Gabriel Osorno, plastic surgeon, educator, and artist, passed away peacefully on November 14, 2024, at the age of 73. Born on June 4, 1951, in Bogotá, Colombia, his life was marked by exceptional skill, a deep passion for both art and medicine, and an unwavering dedication to improving the lives of others. Following in the footsteps of his father, Osorno pursued a career in medicine, graduating with honors from the National University of Colombia in 1977.

He then specialized in plastic surgery at the same institution. During his residency, he focused on auricular reconstruction, a field in which he would make significant and lasting contributions. In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Osorno was a devoted educator, mentoring and inspiring generations of physicians and plastic surgeons. His commitment to teaching was as remarkable as his medical expertise.

Known for his kindness, sharp sense of humor, generosity, and artistic talents in drawing and painting, Dr. Osorno touched the lives of many. His legacy will live on through the students he mentored, the patients whose lives he transformed, and the colleagues who held him in the highest regard. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him
